Job Description:

• Field Testing (Fresh Concrete): Perform essential ASTM tests on-site, including temperature, slump, air content (pressure or volumetric methods), and density (unit weight/yield).
• Sample Collection: Collect, handle, and cast concrete cylinders or beams for laboratory compressive strength testing.
• Inspection & Monitoring: Observe the placement, consolidation, and curing processes to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Documentation: Prepare daily field reports, log test results, and document any non-conforming materials.
• Lab Assistance: Transport samples to a lab, and sometimes assist with lab-based testing (compressive strength breaks).
• Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain field testing equipment, such as slump cones and air meters.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all job site safety regulations (PPE, OSHA). 

• Certifications: ACI (American Concrete Institute) Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I is highly preferred or required.
• Education: High school diploma or GED is generally required, with some roles preferring an associate's degree in civil engineering or construction technology.
• Experience: 1–3 years of experience in construction materials testing (concrete, soil, or aggregate).
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ASTM and ACI standards, concrete mix designs, and construction practices.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50–80 lbs (e.g., concrete samples, equipment) and stand or walk on uneven terrain for long periods.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal skills for reporting data to engineers and contractors.
