Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and operate conventional (manual) and CNC machines to turn, mill, drill, and grind parts.
Blueprint Reading: Analyze blueprints, sketches, or CAD/CAM designs to plan production procedures.
Precision Measurement: Use micrometers, gauges, and calipers to verify that parts meet precise, often strict, tolerances.
Programming: Input instructions into CNC machinery to fabricate components.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal function.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety regulations, including wearing protective equipment and maintaining a clean work area.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of metalworking, mechanics, and machine shop operations.
- Mathematical Aptitude: Skills in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for calculating dimensions.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints and understand CNC programming.
- Physical Dexterity: High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Education/Training: High school diploma, often accompanied by vocational training, apprenticeships, or certification in precision machining.
