Job Description:
Responsibilities
- System Diagnostics: Using diagnostic scanners, oscilloscopes, and computers to identify electrical, electronic, and mechanical faults (engine, drivetrain, braking, HVAC).
- Troubleshooting: Interpreting DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), reading wiring diagrams, and performing advanced root-cause analysis.
- Repair & Testing: Conducting repairs and verifying results through test drives and final inspections.
- Technical Support: Mentoring other technicians and creating technical reports for complex cases or warranty claims.
- Software Updates: Installing manufacturer-specific software updates in vehicle systems.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Usually 3-5+ years as an automotive technician, with a strong focus on diagnostics.
- Certification: Specialized training (e.g., Certified Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician) or relevant certifications (e.g., ASE A1-A8, L1, L3).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of CAN/LIN networking, sensor functionality, and vehicle electrical systems.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical abilities to troubleshoot intermittent or hidden issues.
