Job Description:
Responsibilities
Emergency Response: Staff and drive ambulances, responding promptly to emergency dispatches to car accidents, medical crises, and public incidents.
Patient Assessment: Quickly evaluate patient vitals (heart rate, breathing, blood pressure) and medical history to determine the nature of the illness or injury.
Advanced Medical Care: Administer life-saving treatments, including CPR, oxygen therapy, administering intravenous (IV) fluids, giving medications, and utilizing specialist equipment like defibrillators.
Transport and Monitoring: Lift, move, and safely transport patients to the emergency department while continuing to monitor their condition and adjust treatments en route.
Documentation: Write accurate, detailed incident reports and patient care records, and verbally brief receiving hospital staff on the patient's condition.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, monitors, stretchers) is fully operational, clean, and restocked after every call.
Essential Skills
High-Pressure Decision Making: Ability to make split-second, life-saving choices in stressful, chaotic environments.
Physical Stamina and Strength: Must be capable of lifting and moving patients, carrying heavy gear, and working long, irregular shifts in all weather conditions.
Effective Communication: High empathy for patients and their families, combined with clear communication skills to collaborate with police, firefighters, and hospital doctors.
